Code of Practice

The Code sets out the standards that furniture removal companies should comply with regarding service, fair trading, advertising and handling of complaints. Compliance with the Code is a requirement for membership of BAR.

KEY COMMITMENTS TO YOU

BAR members promise to uphold all the standards contained in this Code and particularly will:

1. Be clear and open in our dealings with you, behaving at all times with honesty and integrity. 

2. Trade fairly and responsibly.

3. Ensure that all our advertising and promotional literature is clear, truthful and not misleading.

4. Provide clear, detailed information about our services and circumstances that may attract additional charges.

5. Provide cover for risks of loss or damage.

6. Deal quickly, sympathetically and effectively with any problems that arise.

7. Provide staff who are courteous, competent and committed to providing a high standard of service.

8. Publicise this Code and have copies freely available for any customer that requires one.

Why is authorisation important ?

Always check a firm is authorised by the FSA, or is the agent of an authorised firm - before you do business with them. If they are not authorised and things go wrong you will not have access to complaints procedures and compensation schemes.
