Question 1

Do you accept Suitcases/ Backpacks/ Snow boards/ Skis/ Bicycles/ Golf Clubs?

YES, we accept all the above please check out the ‘quick quote’ page to get a quote. For items not listed,   if you provide us with the measurements: Length, Width and Height, this allows us to give an accurate quote. The charges will vary according to the size of the items. If you lock the suitcase please send the keys attached to the suitcase either with tape or a chain. The reason is that Customs perform random inspections and the lock can be broken if the locked suitcase is inspected.

Question 2

Can I use my own boxes?

YES, please ensure that your own boxes are made of strong cardboard (please do not use boxes from the supermarket), If you are unsure then we recommend using our own packing cartons which are strengthened. The charge for sending your boxes depends upon their size. Please provide us with the measurements: Length, Width and Height, to get an accurate quote.

Question 3

What is the difference in price and service between 'Door-to-Door' and 'Door-to-Depot'?

OK, as you can see from the 'Guide to Simple Shipping' every movement by Allfreight International Ltd whether national (Student Moves), international (Worldwide Baggage) or storage (Student Storage) can be described in our 'Guide to Simple Shipping'.

The 'Door-to-Door' Service is covered in the 'Guide to Simple Shipping'. This covers taking your shipment from the door of the originating address, transporting it to the destination country, clearing it through Customs and delivering your shipment to the door at the destination address.

The 'Door-to-Depot' service is covered by Steps 1 to 5; the remaining Steps (6 & 7) are your responsibility. This covers collecting from the door of the originating address and transporting it to a depot at, or in the vicinity of the destination port or airport. Allfreight International Ltd involvement ends at this point; it is your responsibility to clear your shipment through Customs and to arrange the collection of your goods and pay any local charges.

Question 4

I'm getting confused over the types of Shipment Protection Cover.

All Risks Shipment Protection Cover - This is calculated at 5% of the "replacement value" of the inventoried items in the shipment. This cover includes the total loss of the entire box, theft of items from within the box and water/ force damage to the box and its contents. The replacement value is the value that it would cost to repurchase the items that have been lost/ damaged.

Total Loss Shipment Protection Cover - This is calculated on 3.5% of the replacement value of the entire Shipment. This cover includes total loss of the entire shipment, not part loss of the shipment.

There is an excess payment on any single claim.

Question 5

How do I know there are no hidden charges at the destination?

Allfreight International Ltd Customer Policy is to inform you up front about all the charges of which we are aware. The 'Door-to-Door' service includes ALL the transport charges from within the country of origin to the final destination address. The only uncertainty arises from what you are sending. Customs will charge duty on, for example, new items, alcohol, and cigarettes, if you have items like these there will be duty to be paid. Certain countries have strict Environmental Controls which can also lead to cleaning charges should, for example, your shoes, camping equipment or bicycle require it. Allfreight International Ltd will advise you when these conditions apply but the responsibility rests with you to minimise the charges.

Question 6

How do I know if the box is more than 40kg? What if the carton is too heavy?

If the T-Chest carton is packed using a mixture of clothes, shoes with the occasional book or album, the cartons should not exceed the maximum weight. The average weight in such circumstances is 30 - 35kg. When packing a T-Chest carton please avoid heavy items such as books, photo albums, CD's or DVD's. These will quickly accumulate the weight, instead, use a Book Box when packing these items, it has the same maximum weight and is just as strong as a T-Chest carton.

Should a carton exceed the maximum weight, the collection driver will provide you with another box and ask that you transfer items out of the overweight carton into the extra box while he is loading the remainder of your cartons.

If all or the majority of your cartons are too heavy and require repacking then, the driver will have no choice but move onto his next scheduled job. In these circumstances you will have to arrange another day for the collection and unfortunately there will be an additional collection charge.

Question 7

How long can I keep my boxes for?

Once you have paid your deposit you can keep the boxes for as long as you would like.

Question 8

Do I have to wait around all day for the driver?

In the case of your delivery of cartons, the driver can leave the pack for you to collect on your return. If you can suggest a location to leave the cartons this would assist the delivery driver greatly. If the driver has a safe place to leave the cartons then you do not need to be available at the time of the delivery. We do not accept any responsibility for the loss of any of the packing materials.

In the event of the collection of your shipment, you must be present. Alternatively, you must advise us if you are leaving the cartons with someone else upon whom you can rely to safeguard your possessions.

In the event of a re-delivery, your shipment will only be delivered to you or the person that you have authorised, your nominee.

Question 9

Is there a charge for the boxes and does it cost more to order extra boxes?

There is NO CHARGE for ordering more cartons than you estimate you will need. It is hard to anticipate how many cartons you will require, so take a few more. Allfreight International Ltd requires a deposit to be paid when placing an order, this is non refundable, should you choose to cancel. This is not an extra charge as it will be deducted from your final balance to create the outstanding Final Charge.

All UNUSED cartons MUST be returned to Allfreight International Ltd, if the unused cartons are soiled and we are unable to reuse them, there will be a small charge.

If you require another delivery, unfortunately, there are additional delivery charges

Question 10

Do you provide packing material?

Yes, you are given free packing material which will be delivered to you at the same time as the boxes. (This includes, bubble wrap and tape)

Question 11

If I order my boxes today, when can they be delivered?

If you arrange your delivery before 15:00hrs we should be able to deliver your cartons the following day excluding Sundays. In certain rare circumstances, this may take longer but you will be advised if this is the case.

Question 12

Can I specify the day and time of delivery / collection / re-delivery?

Yes, you can specify what day you would like the delivery, collection or re-delivery to take place. Allfreight International Ltd schedules each of its vans, the afternoon before the actual operating day.

Allfreight International Ltd cannot, within the cost restraints that we operate take requests for the time of your delivery, collection or re-delivery, other than advising an AM (7.00 am to 12.00 noon) or PM (12.00 noon to 7.00 pm). At certain busy times of the year our drivers may have to work outside these hours.
